Do all abrasive belts has that bump feeling everytime the join goes round past the work? I was thinking of importing my own supplies of abrasives, because all
our stocks here in the Philippines has that overlap joint :thumbdn: I have heard that butt spliced are better, but do they have that bump feeling too?

Get some Klingspor belts shipped to you. I have never had a problem with them.

If you get your belts from a knifemaking supply house, like Pop's, they
will be butt jointed. If you get them anywhere else, you should
specify "butt jointed".
The lap jiont used to be the standard, and may still be for most
industrial applications

I find it particularly bad with scotchbrite belts, and they're expensive, so it really irritates me.

on all my belts the onley one that gets anoying is the 400 grit J weight. because its so thin i feel the tape on the back. someone needs to develop a seamless belt.

Will try to put a piece of leather on my flat platen and let us see if it will help. Anyway, I only have a few pieces left...after that I'll import myself some butt spliced belts :)

Thank you guys for the advice
