As many already know the company I work for ( Metrics Unlimited) is a industrial distributor for fasteners, cutting tools, and tool steel. Thanks to all who have been ordering from us.

We now will be stocking in house Superior Abrasives. The line consists of almost every type of abrasive known. What I want to know from all of you is what type of belts and what grits are you guys using? Also I will need to know the sizes, I know the 2"x72" is the most popular. But I also use a lot of
4"x36", 6"x48" and 12" PSA discs.

This is a new line for us and we do not have stock yet. I figure it will be about 10 days out. I am just looking to see if this is going to be a worth while product for us.

Thanks for your feedback
Nick:)

You could add 1"x42", 2"x48". Personally I use 2"x72", 1"x42", 6"x48" and 2"x76" (14" Wheel on Bader). If you sell goods product at competitive prices, your firm should prosper. Although it will require time to become established. When will you know the prices and different level of pricing, dealer, jobber and retail?

Hi Nick,
In General 3M's 967. 2x72 Works the best on my set up.
I buy 10 at a time in various grits for ruffing.
Hope this helps.

most of the Craftsman "starter grinders" use 2"x42" belts. I still have mine and use it quite often.

Nick,
2 X 72's in 36, 60, 120, 320, 600, & 800 grits. Anything ceramic that would be in the ballpark of Blazes in the coarser grits?

2x72- 60grit on down to micron.X and J weight . also psa disc in 8" & 10". Cheap HermesA/O and kingspor .

I have a modified 4 X 36" grinder that uses 2" X 36" belts. Right now....I have to split the 4" X 36" belts. I would be very happy to find some 2" X 36" belts in 60, 120, 320, and 420 grits. Thanks.

This is great guys. It looks pretty good here. We have been in buisness for 35 years and we sell mostly to machine/prototype shops. But with me being a knifemaker I am wanting to push other stuff as I think it would generate a fair amount of buisness.

So, looking over what ya'll have posted I will be able to cover all of the sizes listed. I can even have special sizes made, there is a 50 pc min though, but that's not too bad.

As far as pricing goes, I will do what ever it takes to get this rolling. I know on the AO 2"x72" 36 grit they will sell for roughly $3.85 ea this product is not a cheap econo product they are a fantastic abrasive take a look at the mfgr. web site. www.superiorabrasives.com They are right in Ohio. So these are American made products at good prices. I compared this price to Pops econo blue belts and mine are .05 cheaper. The price is not set in stone and may come down if I can make a very large order.

I am currently working on getting some prices on the ceramic belts as I type this. I will probably know something by Monday.

Thanks
Nick:)

Nick...If you had an assortment of 1 x 42, I would just as soon order from you as anybody:thumbup:

DITTO what RAYBAN SAID...

Someday i,ll get a BIG BOY GRINDER ....

but im stuck w/a 1x42 for now and its HARD to find HIGHER GRIT belts in the 1x42 size where i live

Nick....
I'd hope you'd carry some shop rolls, in varying grits (320 +) with
VERY flexible backing.......

Nick, find out anything yet about the ceramic "pseudo-Blaze" 2x72 belts?
Thanks,
Mitch

I am just waiting on the Mfgr. to get me some numbers on the ceramic belts. In the mean time feel free to look at their web site. I posted it above.

Thanks and yep we will have shop rolls, also silicon carbide sheets. I like to use these for hand rubbing out blades. I cut them into 1" strips.

Nick:)
