I see you are from Atlanta. Give James or Kay a call at Pop's Knife Supply, 706-678-5408. Tell him what you are doing, and he can walk you through what's available, and what he might recommend.

Robert (Who is cautious about offering advice)

Better for what? Rough grinding or finishing?
I really like the 3m 984 cubitron ii and 977 cubitron belts. The 36 grit 984 eats steel like its wood.
I like the 3m trizact cf's for flattening out the grinds. For final finishing I actually like to use cheap Hermes j flex belts.

Robert is spot on...James is a great guy and will help you select what you need....not what he wants to sell you.
Hard to find a finer fellow.

What Stacy said is spot on, and I'll add that his prices are usually unbeatable also. It's a win win.

Does "Pops knife supply" have a forum on Bladeforums? I can't seem to find it... link please

WOW all the pops recomendations !!! I thought i was amongst a selected few that used him.. Good to see that not only am i not alone but experienced makers as yourselves do;-) in short thats who id recommend. I used the blaze but im perfectly happy with the blue now...

I am glad the moderators did not delete info about "Pops knife supply" due to deal spotting.

Once again I will explain it:
Deal spotting is a specific link to a specific item...and usually of use to a small group of people.
Linking to a supplier, or a company that sells items that many people use is allowed as long as the link isn't totally sales specific, or SPAM.

Thus -
"Great deal on a huge box of belts in Seattle!", with a link to Craig's List - Not allowed.
"Pop's sells knife grinder belts.", with a link to popsknifesupplies.com - Allowed

"You can get tung oil from woodcraft, I think they have a sale going on now.", plus a link to woodcraft.com" - Allowed
"Woodcraft has a sale on Tung Oil.", with the current sales ad link" - Not Allowed

Most of the moderators are pretty lenient on deal spotting unless it is a single item, or the poster does it a lot. Lately it has come up again, and there has been more action on it.

Once again,

I posted a link to the "Contact Page" for Great Lakes Water Jet and it was removed for deal spotting by a moderator. It contained only an address and telephone number.
