ABS Expo San Antonio, TX

Just got home and what a great time. Sold some knives talked to some old friends and made some new ones can't ask for much more than that.

Sounds like everyone had a great time.
Sorry I was not able to attend, it was the first ABS Expo I missed in 9 years.

We had a great time as well. It felt like summer for us soggy Washingtonians. ;) :)

This was the first show in years that was a bust for us on sales... which was too hard to swallow. Other than a couple issues with show etiquette, we had a fantastic time visiting with lots of great people at the show!!! :)

It was great to see old friends and make some new ones. :)

Home after a long flight. The show was put on very well. Sales were slow for me but it always great to see old friends and make new ones. My table was next to Dave Litch. He had some great knives and his sales were so good I had to rub his head for luck. Wade Colter had a very cool folder, when it was closed, the blade was carved to look like a warriors face and the bolsters were his helmut (it is now in my collection). Thanks for the kind comments Jeremy.
All of the knives I saw at the show were top quality. The ABS members are putting their best in this show.

Too many highlites to mention. Meeting new folks is always a pleasure. Talking with those who share the same passion. Always a pleasure to rekindle old friendships. Congrates to he new Journeysmiths.

The show for me was nothing but a good time. I got to meet some new people, eat some great food and had more than a few good laughs. I was really impressed with the ABS banquet on Friday night. The food and company at my table couldn't have been better.

The times before and after the show are, I think, the best. Hanging out in the lobby or a restaurant talking about knife stuff with guys like Nick and roomy Dave was a real blast. Then there is Wade Colter who will have you laughing so hard your cheeks will hurt:D.

I sold one little W-2 stag integral and took orders for a couple more knives. I thought that was pretty good for my first ABS show. I will definitely be back next year.

I personally think this was the best ABS show since the move to Texas. I enjoyed the warm, snowless weather and friends both old and new.

I had a great time. I think Dave Lisch had some GREAT knives, along with many others. I thought the room was quite busy and I sold two of my three and took some orders. I really enjoyed dinner with Mark and Mary Jo Strauss, Bill Ruple, and Jim Pulliam on Saturday night. Mark is one of the great guys in the knife world. Saw some great friends, Tim Hancock, Larry Fuegen, Harvey Dean, Steve Dunn, Rick Dunkerley, Wade Colter, Shane Taylor, Wes Davis, Henry Torres, Erik Fritz, Rob Linquist, Bill Ruple among so many others. I only get to about 2 shows a year now and I really enjoy seeing everyone.

I'd like to thank the collectors that attended including Mark, Jeremy Muir, John Barnes, Jim Pulliam, Rob Linquist, John Klein, and all the other collectors that made the trip. It was a blast.

Earlier in this thread I posted 2 photos by Tim Hancock of my Damascus Dogbone. It has a 9 5/8" 7 bar, 30 layer Turkish Twist Damascus Blade with Walrus Ivory Scales and Damascus trim with a sheath by Tim and won "Best of Show" at the Expo.

Last weekend I brought it to the ECCKS and had Jim Cooper photograph the knife. He did a great job. Here it is:

Sounds like the show was a big success. I wish that I could have been there. Thanks for posting. :) Now get busy on all of those sheaths (and show us some pics).

Welcome to the forum Terrell.

Bob, your statement is true enough, but there was really no harm done in dragging it back up. I kind of enjoyed re-reading it. At my age it all seemed brand new to me:D
