I just got back in town after attending the ABS (Bill Moran) school of knifemaking.. This is a 2 week hands on classs on the forged blade..All I can say is that I learned alot and made some great friends and contacts!! In the 2 weeks I forged out 28 blades, and made a knife that passed the ABS Journeyman test !! The instructors were Greg Neely and Bert Gaston... Both ABS master smiths..Jerry Fisk came by a few times as did a number of local knifemakers.. I think that anyone who forges could benefit from this class...

Awsome! I am moving to Austin and plan to attend for basic forge, dammascus and handle classes during the time I live down there. All I have heard is good experiences and hearty support. Grats on your new edumecation, nice pics.

Good for you Louis. I've also heard nothing but great things about the ABS school. :D

So does this mean you'll be doing a forging demo at IG's hammer in this month? :jerkit:

I can do a demo on a clip point bowie if you like But I'm sure that there will be much better forges than me at the hammer inn !!!!! See you there... HEY I just noticed that you were doing this (:jerkit:) Sooo maybe I won't do a demo..

Louis, BBBB Beaver is always doing this:jerkit: :jerkit: .
I'll have the three forges all set setup and I am shotting for fourth. We can have a couple of demos going at the same time. Wolf is up first and is done in 15 to 20 minutes. ;)

Great to hear you had a good time. Now if you're a member of the ABS for long enough, are you allowed to actually do your JS performance test at the school when taking a class? Or do they want you to do it later or something. I'd love to take that class some day, but I just dropped a fortune buying out a retired blacksmith instead so I wont be doing much for a long time >_<

Color me jealous! I'm glad you enjoyed it Louis. I hope to make it down there someday myself.

So, when are you posting pics of all these blades you forged? :D
