ABS School

Not Canada, but there are now ABS classes at the New England School of Metalwork in Auburn, ME.

I'm not sure where you are in Nova Scotia, nor how long it would take you to get to Auburn, Maine, but I do believe it would be worth your time to make the trip. From what I've seen, the New England School of Metalwork is top notch.

They are hosting a New England Bladesmith Symposium and Knife Show that is an American Bladesmith Society Hammer-in this summer the weekend of July 23-25 for only $35US.

I see they have an ABS Introduction to Bladesmithing class with Don Fogg scheduled in November. (I sure wish they would do one in the summer when I was there.)

Is there anyone doing anything like these classes in Canada?

Say on the east coast somewhere?

There is absolutely no indication on his website where he is from,
-so I don't know why i think he is from you part of the world,
but try emailing this fellow to see if he offers classes or knows who does.

He does excellent high end work

N.S. to Auburn, ME is quite a little jaunt, but it certainly is doable. Once you get on I95 in Bangor it's only a couple of hours to Lewiston/Auburn.

On this link "http://www.powning.com/jake/smithph/smithphl.shtml" He states where he is at:

My forge is located in the hamlet of Markhamville (population 30), in the hills of Kings County, New Brunswick, Canada, where I grew up. I have been working as a full time sword smith since 2001 and i have studied this craft since 1994.

Well, I got to Hope lastnight and am staying at the Super 8. Looking to explore the town tomorrow. Monday is just around the bend:-)

You made it. Good for you! One of the most important tools you better have and use (from the perspective of this forum) is a digital camera. Remember, if we don't see photos, it didn't happen. Be safe....and have fun!
