This is my tiny kit packed in a medium prescription bottle.

1. button compass
2. small amber vial of pottable aqua tablets(20)
3. 6 tinder-quick
4. 10ft. 1/8" braided nylon cord(150lb. strength)
5. fox 40 micro whistle

This is carried with a K&M matchcase loaded with 28 waterproof matches and 2 strikers.

What do you guys think? Thanks

What's gonna light your tinder-quick tabs? Do you definitely have a water holder and blade on your person at all times?

When hunting, yes. I carry a Buck 110 on my belt, and a nalgene 16.oz bottle in my pack. This is just the biggest kit I will carry in my pockets.

Cool man, sounds like you've got solid ideas. If that container of aqua tabs is too bulky, you might consider adding a few individually wrapped chlorine tabs to save space, then you could put in a small LED perhaps.

Plus, I'm apparently blind/illiterate and didn't see that you kept it with the K&M! So scratch that earlier comment.

Its the mini amber glass vial that bepreparedtosurvive.com carries. I don't think you can get any smaller than this. Thanks for the input. I just want some sort of kit on me, instead of in my pack.

Thanks...just what I needed tf, another place to find gear...

Probably it's good, but I would put a SAK Classic StayGlo or Whistle,a mini ferro rod and a mini flashlight :)

Good little kit, and being that pocketable, at least it wont be left behind. And you still have the basis covered.

I have been thinking of a good minimal kit myself, I think it's a good idea, the bigger the kit the less likely you will be to carry it every day.

my absolute barebones minimalist survival kit is the following:

- firesteel and striker
- neck knife
- matchcase of PJCB (PJ cotton balls)

i can purify water with fire, its not that hard to scoop up water in a big leaf like skunk cabbage and drop a hot coal into it a few times to heat up the water.

EDIT, forgot the flat whistle....
