Absolute favorite knife

The SOG Stingray is my all time favorite but there are several runner-ups. This Schrade Fire & Ice Trapper with dark brown bone covers by GEC in 2007 is my First Runner-up.

I have two favorite knives....

Like Gary, whatever knife is in my pocket. :) That would be this Burnside Jack...I took this picture yesterday on top of Mt. Hood.

And the second favorite is truly my all time favorite--and it has a story.

It is an ivory Fruitport. I carried this knife for a year or so and then lost it. I looked high and low for the thing and wrote it off as lost. Then a few months ago, I moved a chair and heard something fall to the floor. I looked under the chair and I found my Fruitport. Since that time, however, I haven't carried it because I really don't want to lose it again. How sad is that???

My favorite of all my knives is this old thing made by the man that raised my brother, sister & myself...my Great Uncle Fred.(& Aunt Lottie)
He made it out of a file & kept it in his tackle box which is where it was found in the old Livingston he had before passing on.
It ain't much to look at,but it holds an edge & I keep it in my camp/chuck box to use around camp.
I have customs I use also, but this one needless to say is special to me.
I even did my first battoning with it to make kindling before I knew what battoning was.
Fred was a big time fisherman/outdoorsman & taught us kids to fish, camp & enjoy the outdoors for which I will be forever grateful.
RIP Fred.

mines not a folder so I hope it's okay, after my son passed away the folks on the JK sub-forum were a great source of comfort and fun when I didn't think I could have either, anyway, John lets customers design there own knife and I found it a cathartic thing to do at the time and I named it for my son. Don't mean to be a downer but it is it's story and it makes it very precious to me. The Jk Toby's knife:

This is the number 1, others have since ordered the design and it has brought me a lot of joy to see them carrying it around and enjoying it.

Love my Toby's Knife Pete! After hearing & being moved by the story of little Toby I had to have one for myself.
It is a great little knife for just about anything, but I use mine in the kitchen where it gets the most use.
Thank you for sharing the story & design with us.:)

You did a nice job on that steak. :p

This one hands down. It's been with me a long time... I'd be lost without it.

As much as I like single blades, and Jack knives, this 301 is my favorite to use, has an arsenal of blades, and is quite ergonomic, though it's a tad heavy in the pocket, I actually enjoy the extra heft, it feels like quality.

I have no sentimental value knives, as almost all of the knives I have are recent acquisitions.

My favorite out of those is the Case Small Texas Jack, which I like so much I bought two of. One that I am allowing to develop a patina and one that I keep shiny, but both get carried and used. Here they are:

Great looking knives and pictures.
My favorite at the moment is my yellow case trapper, but it will probably change eventually.

Favorite traditional knife. I must say that my favorite pattern is the Barlow. Case is my favorite brand.

Bark River Aurora and her little sister the Liten Bror. It's a toss up between the two.

My favorite always comes back to this Schatt & Morgan gunstock

It carries just right and handles just right. I have way too many knives, but when I want to carry a favorite I reach for the gunstock.

My sentimental favorite is the Imperial Barlow my dad gave me when I was 8, after pestering him for it for ages :D I don't have any pics, but it is fairly beat up and needs one of the scale/bolster parts replaced. When I found it at the bottom of my tool pouch it had gotten fairly rusty but cleaned up well enough and took a nice edge.

Nothing sentimental nor fantastical in acquiring it (apart from the smoking deal I got), but my absolute favorite traditional is definitely my 2004 Case/Bose muskrat. Great knife.
