***SOLD!***This is an incredible piece! It feels and has the heft of solid silver but I don't see any hallmarks or "925" marks anywhere so we'll call it silver plate.
The work on this is absolutely beautiful! It depicts a Bald Eagle sitting on a tree branch with some sort of beautiful blue semi-precious stone that makes up the background. It has beautiful carvings in the silver.
The artist's stamp of NK is on the front and on the back there's a somewhat worn label on the back that looks like it says, "Handmade in Germany" and the artist's stamp is also on the knife. The buckle is 4 1/4" wide and 2 13/16" in height.
The knife is made from 440C and the side that shows is a slab of really nice sambar stag. The knife's mirror polished double edged blade has a slight curve to it so that it lays flat when installed in the buckle, a reflection of fine craftsmanship. The blade is lightly sharpened but not razor sharp, (I guess for safety's sake), but could be easily honed to a razor's edge.
I've had this for many years and don't remember much except that the complete knife is made from 440C and the handle slab is genuine sambar stag. It has never been worn or used to my knowledge and is in excellent condition except for slight handling marks here and there and from sliding the knife in and out of the buckle all of which are minor.
This really is a quality piece and if you're into belt buckle knives, it doesn't get any better than this and you won't go wrong as this is craftsmanship at it's best!
