This knife is made of SR101. It is the proprietary steel of Swamp Rat Knife Works. INFI is the proprietary steel of the "mother" company, the Busse Combat Knife Company. Do a search and you will see that there is not even one Swamp Rat owner who will not praise this steel! I do too and, trust me, I own a lot of Busse's, as well as, Swamp Rat's.
BTW, a good place to see what we are talking about is The Rat chat.

Do you know what the tang looks like under the rc grip? The reason I'm asking is could you replace the grips? If so the Battle rat would be a real sleeper to customize. Have you heard of anyone trying it?

The blade goes all the way to the eyelet. If you want to see what I mean click to this link from Scrap Yard Knives. Even though the link is from the Scrap Yard Knives, the same thing applied to knives such as this Swamp Rat Battle Rat, that were equipped with the venerable Resiprene-C handle. Many people still support that for a heavy duty knife such as this one, the Resiprene-C handle is THE way to go. I tend to agree.
Aside from this, there have been cases reported at the Rat Chat where certain people managed to remove the Resiprene-C. What happens after that is left to people's imagination.
