SP53 is definitely one of the Best bang for the Buck.... everyone should try it.

that looks like the most batoning knife on earth.
it also looks like a lawnmower blade with a handle - which is exactly what I would make if i wanted to sit around the backyard and baton wood while i watched it burn.

Battle Grade Hellrazor gets my vote. It’s the one on the right.



They pop up once in a while around 3 bills. Hell, ANY battle grade Busse you like the looks of would work. You will not find a tougher knife for the money. I’d be scouring their sales forum.

Oh, I guess I should mention I have used Skrama 240, an El Chete from TOPS, and the Ontario SP mentioned above. All work fine for the job with the late and lamented Ontario being the best value.

SR77 is tough, but I’m not crazy about its edge holding ability. SR101 is tough and holds a razor edge like grim death.

That said, ANY Busse/kin the right size would be a top candidate for batoning abuse. They love it.
