Accidental Spine Whack--Share Your Anecdotes

That sounds like it could have been bad, hope your brother was okay after, nothing serious.

After he went under I was almost certain he had suffered a pretty devastating injury. But really it was just a nice a nice gash and bruise. Kids are pretty tough.

I have a linerlock that's been accidently edge, tip, side, butt, and spine bumped dozens of times over the years with no failure.
It happens in less than ideal conditions.

I wasn't being very smart, but... Carved my initials into a tree with a certain high quality liner lock... The blade folded and cut me to the bone. Caused significant nerve damage which took about a year to heal. This knife failed the spine tap test, but had absolutely no blade play and was built well. Other times, I have used the spine of the blade to rap a fish between the eyes to kill it. And yet other times, I have been dressing an animal and put negative pressure on the blade when maneuvering the knife in the chest cavity. I always make sure they can withstand spine pressure now. I love the axis lock.

Cutting things like thick rubber hose and carving trees can put pressure on the lock when the bade is retracted. the CRK TI lock will disengage itself while still cutting.
