Accidently Cutting Yourself

I was putting a new handle on my Fallkniven S1 and managed to cut my right ring finger to the bone in the point.
It took three hours waiting in the ER and three stitches.
I guess I have at least ten small and large knife cuts on my fingers. :)

I get bit on occasion. I work as a line cook so I'm always using a blade, the law of averages gets me occasionally. What's funny is it goes in streaks- I may go months without cutting myself, but I've nicked myself or gotten a small cut 5 times in the last week.:confused: 2 times it was that damned little Messermeister bird's beak paring knife, just peeling potatoes too fast and not paying enough attention. The more mundane or unpleasant the task the greater the temptation to breeze thru it as fast as possible, but that ain't the way to handle a knife.

depends on what is meant by cut...if that includes all little nicks and the like, then once a month on average is fine and should be expected if you use knives regularly...it doesn't mean anything, just murphy's law comin at ya...if cut means you have to really stop what you're doing for the time being, or even go to the hospital, then i'd try to be more careful...i've gone to the hospital once for the second kind of cut, and i don't plan on reaching that level of stupidity ever again

I have a pic of when I cut 2/3 the way through my left index finger at work with a 12" Forschner Chef knife. It was funny at the time as we were in the middle of a lunch rush, I quickly wrapped the finger in paper towels, wrapped it in saran wrap then double gloved it and held it over head while switching from prep to grill. When it was over the Sous asked wtf was that all about? I took him in the walk in and he said, "Great, a bleeder"....I love kitchen work.

Now I only cut myself while sharpening pocket knives, watching ESPN news!

Its best to NOT play Mumblypeg with a dagger while drinking copious amounts of beers

I told my buddy i was a ace knife thrower...sorry about the big toe der buddy.... :foot:

Did you ever wonder where the old saying " Play with fire and you will get burned " came from? Guns , Knives and fire are great things NOT TO PLAY AROUND WITH. THOSE WHO LIVE BY THE SWORD, also comes to mind.

I'm a balisong enthusiast, so...

Actually, though, I don't get cut all that much.

I guess that means I need to learn some new moves.
