Acies vs. Sebenza

I've never held a Sabenza or an Akies...but I know that my Busse is a better folder than either of them.

In all seriousness, I'd have to say I'm pro Sebenza--at least until the Acies comes out in a left-handed version! Then I really could compare them.

I have neither...but want both. If I could have only one, I'd choose the Acies. From the outside looking in, seems to be more bang for the buck with the AG over the Seb. As others have said, both are more expensive than I'd pay for a knife.

The Acies lacks the special pivot bushing the Sebenza has so its not even close for me. I just dont think the level of tolerances between the two are the same. Performance elitists would probably prefer the Acies due to better steel. Once again it comes down to preferences.

When one looks at what feature one knife has over the other the list goes both ways. The story about the Acies from my recollection of conversations with AG and others goes something like this.
AG designed the knife including features from several knives he admired and gave their due i.e. CRK, Hinderer, Dozier.... He then contracted Kershaw to make a pre-determined number of the knives. That's it. When they are gone they are gone.
I carry the Acies and am familiar (owned, handled, carried) the other knives that constituted the pool of features included in the Acies.
I will say that it represents what I Love about ALL the knives with a couple tricks thrown in by a Master knife designer - AG Russell.
What I personally Love about the knife:
- It's size, weight, F&F
- The pocket clip and how the knife rides completely down in my pocket.
- Clip can be reversed for tip up/tip down carry.
- The blade size, design and ZDP189 is ALL amazing. Sharp does not describe mine after a stint in the Wicked Edge.
- Open scale design with beefy stand-offs, easy to clean and keep clean.
- Flick it like a nickel and the knife opens with a "whack" and locks up like a bank vault. Blade is perfectly centered with no wiggle and is as smooth as butter.
- Hinderer LBS is a nice feature (just in case)
- When it's open it is a rather Large knife but when in your pocket barely noticeable.

That's about it. There are several knives I like and admire, no need to pit one against the other if someone can own offerings from all mentioned they are fortunate indeed and probably will not regret having one over the other.
Most I have talked to all said the same thing, the Acies seems to be the one that finds itself into their pockets:) and from my standpoint, I say - Cool do what works.

Unlike most here, I have owned/own both, and I agree with what you're saying - however, there are not flies on the Acies. The Umnumzaan, after all, does not have the Sebenza bushing either. :) The Acies is made by Kershaw, which is possibly the most under-rated, under-appreciated knifemaker in the US today. The Acies is a very well-made, well-designed knife that is made from the best materials.

I have been tending towards Wharncliffe blades lately, so I have an Insigno. The outstanding feature for me from these two choices would be the blade shape, by far.
