I had one of these quite a few years ago but sold it.
My old friend was going through some old boxes and found it this week.
He showed me, then said "You can have it."
Heck, I couldn't pass it up.

Could that be the Universe telling you to collect Spyderco, Mike? ;)

haha. I've been doing that for a while. I have a very nice collection of Spydies.
Been in my top 3 manfs for a long time, don't see it ending anytime soon either. ;)

Granted, my collecting over the past year has been Kershaw, but Kershaw
and Spyderco are like apples and oranges. I like both and will continue to use
and collect both.

Anyone else have one like this??
I think it's from around 1999. Not sure.

A stainless steel serrated Mariner was my first Spydie.
I'm looking forward to getting the H1 version.

When I was teaching Sunday School for teenagers in a Latino church (I'm a gringo), one of my students came up to me one morning with the old model Rescue (the one with the integral zytel clip) in his hand. He explained to me that he had found it on the street a day or two previously and really didn't want to have it in his possession. I asked him why he didn't want to keep it, seeing as how it would be a great work knife. He replied that carrying a knife, no matter how innocent the motive, was probably not the wisest choice for a young Latino Christian.

He wanted to know if I would like to have it.

Duhh.

It has a place of honor with some of my more valuable knives.

That's totally cool, mike! Great color scheme, and a classic!

Ray :)

Tell the young brother in christ he should not be afraid to carry a knife, they are not weapons but tools. I have known the lord for about 14 years and i carry a aluminum handled cricket. Every man should have at least one nice dress knife.

I have that same model, which I got for 20 bucks here on BF. I wouldn't mind doing a little handle work on it like that. What did you use? Testors paint or something like that?

Nice one, Mikey!!

Some say that you have a very nice friend.....me, on the other hand... I say you have a very ignorant friend!!:D

Very nice score, you owe that guy a couple of beers.

Cheers,
Jonny

Sometimes I do believe he is ignorant. I've know this guy since I was
a kid, he's goofy but a knife lover as well.

A small batch of Enduras were also done with this color scheme. If memory serves, these were modified by a 3rd party, not Spyderco. I've had one of these in my EDC rotation for years and it always draws comments from folks.
