Active Duty vs. Game Warden

For hunting, tromping through the woods, or just messing around I really like my AD. But when it come to working on the farm or the job the smaller size of the GW is the preferred tool, it is easier to weave and twist between obstructions on the job.
This is my original Busse collection picture

There are no "vs" with Busse knives. Get as many as you can. They are the Best knives!!
Even the...
seahorse. :D

I sold my AD and kept my GW.

GW fit me better and the handle of the AD was a bit too long for the blade for me...

DavidZ, I went through this one myself.

I started with a GW that I would just carry sheathed in my front pocket it worked well. I came to miss the little extra blade length and tip of my old edc, I figured a Meaner would be the ticket and ended up with a AD, I'm glad I did. As you can see in gaginozs nice pic where he has his AD next to common edc folders the AD fits right in the size range.

Here's some quick pics I took for comparison.

You can see the GW has more belly to the blade and is shorter over all in the blade and handle. The size does make it very nice for pocket carry given the right sheath. I do really like the GW handle it's as comfortable of a knife as I've ever held. Over all length, blade shape, and handle design makes the GW an excellent hunting knife, imagine that.:)

The AD has a longer blade, less belly, more tip, and longer handle and is still a smaller package then say a Large Sebenza. I love my AD and edc it.

Pic of AD and sheath along with one of my favorite little slip joints. Rainwalker sheath rides inside the waistband.

My break down for carry is AD for edc, GW for hunting camp carry, Meaner for woods carry. If I could only have one the AD would be the keeper. Everyones different though.

Hope it helps.

Since I'll probably never have to skin and butcher any animals, I'm still sticking with my BAD choice. Even though I really like the GW model!

I prefer the swell of the AD handle, and its blade with less belly. I like the shorter length of the GW.

exactly. I would really like an AD profiled blade, but the length of the GW (ie get rid of the choil and make it 3 inch blade with an AD handle)

I got the fat GW in satin finish, most comfortable knife to hold I ever had. I find it perfect for my self defense style, because its comfortable in any grip and blade is easy to control. I'm not talking about jungle warfare here, but just minor stuff anybody has realistically any chance of encountering. The only downside its a bit heavy. I never held an AD, but I'm more then happy with my knife.

I took the pic below a short while ago for my own amusement and to see a good comparison, size wise, with some common folders. I think it shows that, in size and shape, it compares very favourably with a folder as an EDC fixed blade. Well, for my purposes anyway, yours may be different.

.

gajinoz - this is a great picture - The AD is smaller than I thought. Then the GW must be really small.

Thanks all for the input. From all of this, it looks like I need a Busse, with:

- The blade shape and geometry of the GW, only longer, with the handle of the high street!

anything like that?.

Or else, I will have to get them all!

The handle on the GW was just too small for my hand and I could only get a nice comfy 3 finger grip. Maybe I need to give the GW another chance. I absolutely love my AD. :D

I have both but seem to carry my game warden more. Dunno why, maybe for sentimental reasons since it was my first Busse. Although a saber grind active duty with NO choil would quickly take first place!

AD would be the perfect EDC without a choil. I hope Busse offers all the EDC size blades without a choil in the future. That choil is useless and gets in the way.

The AD choil is as useless as a hat full of broken buttholes.

It's the right size for a firesteel on a AD but INFI doesn't throw good spark.

Regardless if it did, I still hate a choil on a EDC. (period)
While were on the subject...bring back the SHBA choiless!

In town, I pocket carry a thin GW, preferring it over my AD and BAD - plus a lot of jurisdictions and civilians see anything over a 3" blade as a weapon (although the 3 1/2" Culti strike most of my uninformed coworkers as a harmless kitchen paring knife).
For a casual day in the woods, it's the AD or BAD.

It's hard to beat the Game Warden, it really is a great little knife :)
