Actual cost of a sebenza?

Why would you even care.....
Same discussion with apple products....
People scream about it being too expensive, margins are too high, they make too much money, and ripp off their customers........
All great, until you handle their(and CR) products: they are brilliant in any way shape and form.
Dont know, dont care, as long as they keep up their current standards

(This price issue standpoint coming from a born&raised Dutchman, might be worth just a little more than just my 2 cents;-p )

Very well said!!!

Actual cost of a cost of a Sebenza? To me the formula is simple:

Sebenza 25 ($445) + Wicked Edge Pro Pack ($425) = sharp & reliable daily companion (PRICELESS)

This doesn't have anything to do with the actual raw cost to make a Sebenza but Sal has gone on the record to say that the Spyderco Southard would cost $400 if it was made in the USA. In my experience, while Taichung has great F&F, it's still no where close to a Sebenza.

The answer isn't as simple as saying, "Chris Reeve pays X number of dollars for steel and Titanium, and X number of dollars per hour for the labor to make it into a knife....". They run a business. What you are asking for is his net profit margins. CRK has tons of overhead. Maintaining production equipment is expensive. You have cost for power, water, property tax on the real estate the factory sits on, FUTA tax for each employee, employee benefits cost (health insurance?), and of course Uncle Sam taking their cut (up to 40% of the final number) among many other details.
So, at some point, yes, it can be broken down to a unit production cost. But, there are a lot of variables to consider. Chris Reeve is dependent on sales volume to pay his employees and himself. I'm sure his product is priced accordingly.
