Actual EDC use and needs

A four inch stockman (or larger) and an SAK (I prefer an Evo Grip 14) is all anyone needs, but many other knives have their place, too.

I work in a hardware store
A tech for small engine repair (and I assemble all the Stihl and zero turn mowers)
I find the pliers ok my skeletool to be pretty dang useful. And the one hand open and close is extremely useful in opening all the box of parts I have to check in and count etc etc

Simple, stainless, thin, light, easy to care for... could go with a SAK Excelsior in Cellidor or Alox, or an Alox Bantam or Electrician, or the single-blade Alox Swiss Army 1/ Solo.

I feel your pain! I was just commenting in another thread that I prefer the aesthetics of carbon blades but in SE TX it is humid most of the year. I get the twitches whenever I see a pepper spot; I love patina but don't admire pepper spots as much. My cutting needs a few (prefer my nice kitchen knives for that duty) so like you they just rust in my pocket.

I love my Electrician and carry it a lot in the summer so echo previous votes. I also enjoy my Uncle Henry 897UH (stainless), so much so that I have four copies. Annnnd I recently obtained a long-wished-for Enigma which is M390.

Good luck in your quest!

I wish I was more interested in traditional knives when uncle Henry's were available
Now they are treasure...to be hunted :p

If you want to carry a traditional in the humidity you could always pick up an Uncle Henry with stainless blades or even a Case. They are a bit more resistant than basic carbon.
I think a Case would be a good knife to carry working in a hardware store.BB60C98E-1973-4FF5-AE12-ADBE5209979C.jpeg

I have been reassessing my actual EDC uses and needs here lately (I am such a nerd)

So like...my knife
My one and only ...if I had to pick one for the rest of my life...
Is a pioneer or wenger si (I actually do prefer the si due the bail over the keyring but they discontinued)

So on days I don't work ...I carry the pioneer with the classic (now the mini champ) on my keyring
And I call it done
But on work days ...my work EDC is easily and with no contest my skeletool. (I know it's not traditional but bear with me)

And I just feel silly carrying a sak and a multi tool. Additionally...it's only March and I am already being reminded how intense the humidity is and how badly and easily carbon steel rusts here.
So to me, one of the biggest advantages of a traditional slippie over a modern folder or lockback type knife is... multiple blades (or in the case of a sak...tools)

But...If I am already carrying a skeletool...I have a decent blade and tools
Freeing me up for something slimmer and easier to carry ... preferably in stainless

This is leading me to think I should pick me up something like a buck 55 or 501
Smallish, simple, sturdy, great warranty and easy to carry to pair with my skeletool for work
And just rock the pioneer on my days off.

I did warn y'all I am a nerd 🤓
or an Alox Solo or a GEC stainless.
