I have an interesting perspective on this as I am a survivor of 1994's category five Hurricane Andrew, which the struck the south Miami area where I was living at the time. Few Americans (Camille & Andrew) have been through cat 5's.
Been through 2 100-year storms, somehow. My Cursed luck!
My buddy lived on an island off P'cola (rented), now he lives on my couch. He's fortunate to be a telecommuter, but the island got STOMPED, couldn't even drive out to his place for months. Glad your back in your digs and things are normalizing for you.

Too, New Orleans and the Florida Keys are eventually doomed. See 'em while you can! I may sound pessimistic, but in reality it is just a matter of time. People love the water too much and builders & lawmakers don't respect it enough.
