AD or Warden for EDC

I'm a Busse virgin and this will be my first... Starting small, I'm comparing AD to Warden for a not so EDC (weekend around the property, day hiking, walking the dog, just admiring, etc.). Before you all say "get both" I'd like to hear thoughts on both. Useable blade length is similar. The handle/slabs seem thicker on the Warden (my hands are large but not fat long skinny fingers).
No question the satin blade works best for me. I'm leaning towards an AD. I like the overall design a bit better. Also, the slightly longer blade would compliment a folder a bit better. Would love to see a comparison of the 2. In hand would be a plus. Thanks.

The slightly longer handle on the AD is also a big plus to me. It puts the AD in a league above the GW.

The 0.140" AD is IMO the best Busse ever made. There is nothing about the AD I don't like.

I like the AD better myself... but I guess it's all a matter of preference.

Do you like more of a belly in the blade or more of a point? The Warden has more belly, and the AD has more of a point. Also... the AD has a slight blade lenght advantage.

As for the handles... the AD has a slightly longer handle, but both are pretty close to being the same thickness. The rear lanyard hole on the AD can get in the way if you use a reverse grip, while pulling towards you in the cut path.

But honestly, you can't go wrong with either one for what you've listed as your use.

Hope this helps. :)

Ok, so I'll probably end up with both in the future however its the AD first! Now, how do I find a Satin AD? Checking the for sale board, ebay, other forums, etc. for weeks and no luck

As much as I'm a fan of the Satin GW's I have to say I like the longer handle of my AD for using..really a just a matter of preference.

Good luck finding one...
For a satin AD... you'll be looking for a custom shop piece or the orginal release version. Both command a premium as far as price goes. There is one custom shop AD with wood handles and grey spacers available of the exchange right now.

Another option is to buy a coated AD and send it off to Ban or Bill Seigal for a regrind... or call Busse and see if they have any laying around (not likely), or order a custom piece from them... but you will have a wait time for that.

.

There's also the AD from Knob Creek and the following Ganza -- satin blade and green (looked grey to me) g-10. A few have sold for reasonable amounts on the exchange. Post a WTB thread and see what happens. If you're committed to the satin AD, be patient and bump your thread every 3 days -- something will eventually turn up!

Choosing between everything Busse in that size range is a tough call. The AD is a great size and design. I presently carry a Warden for a specific reason but I have the AD and Meaner as well. If I had to narrow it down to only one to buy or to own exclusively, it would be the AD.

AD for me . Fits better in my hands .

I like them both. But if it isn't really and EDC but just a weekender you should consider the meaners too.

Front left is a LMrS, back center AD, right GW

hey dude i am new to (i only have three [AD, GA, and SW] get the AD it has a better handle.

or just get both :D

that would be an exalant chose. i do have something to add... if your going to carve with the knife the GW is (IMHO) far better, but other than that its a perfect first busse :D

Watch out for those hogs they will rample you in no time flat :D

What mike said:thumbup:

My snake/satin is .150, well I've never checked it but thought it was
Which were .140? Cause I want one

I prefer Game Wardens even though there are some advantages to the AD. The BIGGEST advantage for me is the Game Warden allows you to be much closer to the working edge while holding the handle because it has a smaller choil and guard/talon hole. It's just better for small camp craft/bushcraft chores. This to me far outweighs the other geometry benefits of the AD. The GW is easier to pocket too because of it's shorter blade and handle. I also prefer more belly.
