i often see all kinds of various blade lengths for various versions even with same blade shape on various dealers websites. real close like 3.625", 3.6" and 3.5". same with cutting edge lengths. im sure there are slight tolerance differences, but there isn't various lengths this close together, are there?

im not talking ad20.5's....I know those are smaller than ad20s.

All I know is that the cutting edges (up to the sharpening choil) on my AD20's are 3 3/16" on my Sharkfoot and 3 5/16" on my clip. (Clip is a few years old, the scribed version). Not measured with a caliper, but with a ruler.

I've noticed that as well...I figured it was mainly variations from measuring when they list the knife but you think they would go by manufacturer listed specs?

That would make too much sense.
yep.

knifecenter, right now, has ones available for sale with different blade and total length. that's what got me thinking is there actual variations or poor typing and rounding off going on........

I think any (actual) deviations in length, would be in keeping with the utter randomness of Demko manufacturing; i.e. different styles of jimping, different case-hardened shark lock colors, different amounts of machine-ground lines on blades, etc...

Depends on blade shape. Sharkfoot is generally a little shorter. And I guess depends how it’s measured … edge length probably the most reliable. Anyways, picture, 1000 words and all that …

im gonna write it off as bad dealer typing and measuring and some slight normal variances. rather than an actual 3.5" blade and a 3.625" blade versions.

thanks y'all for your thoughts and insights on the subject.

That's what I do, too.

BTW, the Sharksfoot is a little shorter so it can pass by the rear spacer.
