I recently received a NIB Chill from Mr. TotalDbag (Thanks buddy!) And it really blew me away. For the price of the knife, it's pretty dang cool.

If you don't already know, the Chill comes with a hollow ground blade. Well I hate hollow grinds and much prefer a nice thinly ground full flat grind so I took her to my grinder. I think it came out very nice. I definitely not the biggest fan of 8cr13mov but it grinds extremely well and is the best steel you can get for this kind of knife. On to the pics! I'll get some better ones tomorrow when the sun is out.

I still need to take her to the Edge Pro and make her "slicey"

I have always liked the chill. Wish they would have made a Higher end with better steel and grind like you made there. Its like the perfect cheap folding pocket steak knife!

Sweet!! That's awesome Will!

Tanks me breda!

That's exactly what I was thinking while I was grinding one of the sides! there needs to be a 80-100 dollar version (doesn't have to be exactly the same) with a FFG blade in something like 14c28n or CPM-154. That would make my year!

Was looking at the picture and trying to figure out what the deal was because I was too lazy to read the post and it finally hit me.......FFG.

Good work man.

I really appreciate the kind words guys. If any of you have some pics of Kershaws that have been reground please share them. Regrinds are sexy IMO.

That looks really good. I was a bit curious how you were going to turn an already thin hollow ground blade into a flat grind. How thick is the remaining blade material? That looks like it's going to make for a phenomenal slicer.

Thanks! This was the second hollow ground knife I have reground. The first was a Manix 2 and I figured out what I needed to do to make sure I didn't take any material off of the edge. It is very thin behind the edge so I think it's going to cut extremely well. I also kept the tip area of the grind a bit thicker just for strength purposes.

Very cool! I haven't had any ideas for regrinds, but every since I saw a picture of a custom finger choil on a 0561, I have wanted to add one to every knife I have! Lol. One of these days I'll through one on one of 'em and I'll definitely post some pictures!

Looks nice. How does that affect the balance and flipping speed? That must have lightened your blade up considerably.

I have been amazed at how my chill pops right out. I always figured it was combination of blade length/weight and pivot tension.

Now, spill it. What kind of grinder did you use?

That's cool. I love my Chill... but the bead blasted blade is a bit boring... dig that FFG and those serrations. :)

Thanks gents. I had considered regrinding my 0561 and adding a choil but never bit the bullet. I'll probably do it eventually.

The flipping speed seem to be the same. Maybe a bit less but not by much. If anything, it flips out better now. I use a Craftsman 2x42 belt sander as my grinder. It's one speed @3500 RPM so it's kind of a pain to work with but it does a good job.

Dude, you really need to regrind a 0560. I don't know about the choil but it definitely needs the FFG treatment

Nice lookin work Will! The Chill is one that you dont usually see much about but it is such a great knife for the price point.
