I think that I am addicted to Thumb Ramps and Jimping! It seems all of my Spyderco EDC's have it! I just got a new CF Native, and I could not figure out what seemed wrong. Now I know! Anyone else suffer from (or enjoy) this malady? ;)

Hell yes. :) Especially the old style jimping. It really grabbed. (Present on single liner millies and the Chinook 1/2/3 I believe).

yea. One of the main reasons I wouldn't buy an Endura 3 or Delica 3 was because the "thumb ramp" was too slick.

I love thumb ramp jimping too. My personal favorite is the Military Jimping that looks like large square cut-outs (see pic below). I am also fond of the new style fine jimping found on the new Millie's and Para's.

(Note: this image is not mine. It IS Wouter's from www.spydercollector.nl . I cropped it just to show the jimping. I also hosted it somewhere else as to not use his bandwidth) -hope you don't mind Wouter.

The lack of jimping and a ramp did not bother me when I got to play with the Native IV. Perhaps because a C41 Native Lightweight was one of the first Spydercos I purchased and the Kiwi, which lacks both the ramp and the jimping, was another.

One nice thing, it's a lot easier to grind metal away than to replace metal that has been ground away. Jimping can always be added, either by the owner if they have the talent, or by a third party for those willing to pay the "myway" tax.
