Adding a sharpening choil

and caught stuff.
thanks for sharing the photo, that's a massive recurve nearing the ricasso, yikes!
yes yes, all sharpening notches, no matter how small, eventually catch on stuff, in my experience. that's why the preferred mod of a spyderco blade should imho be the not adding of a notch.
the professional sharpeners cut/file even bigger notches into Spyderco blades, have you seen omg? haha  :poop:

in the Buck, i'd prolly continue to file notches at the ricasso area, and at some point realize that the eol has been reached. Some Spyderco knives shouldn't be resharpened at all because they're right at eol ootb, for example the Marcin Slysz designs (Techno2, Spydiechef, etc etc); they are designer's knives and imho not meant to be resharpened over and over again. imho.

that's why i chose my edc to be the fox suru. it has a huge sharpening notch (called finger choil) which is both functional and leaves plenty of room for countless resharpening sessions. right after i got the Techno2 brandnew, i retired it because of the resharpening dilemma. shame on the design/designer.

all vinox blades, no matter small or large, come with a sharpening notch. vinox blades are meant to be used. and resharpened. kudos to the swiss designers.
