The impermeable membrane next to your skin may cause wet hands but it breaks the evaporation-convection precess and that's why it would work. basically the membrane becomes an added layer of skin and any moisture underneath is like moisture under your skin. If you carefully draw some fingernails in with a sharpie this theory becomes even more true.
