Addressing Belt Grinder Chatter

I have recently upgraded the tool rest on my craftsman 2x42 grinder and I've noticed that belt chatter has become more of an issue even at the lower grits (ex 36). After some initial reading it appears that most of the chatter can be attributed to the glue seam on the back of the belt. Which can be addressed by knocking down he grit at the seam with a diamond pad.

Aside from a diamond pad can anything else be used to knock down the grit?

Can chatter also be attributed to the belt not being in full contact with the platen? Ex the platen is not tangent too, or proud of the drive or tensioning wheel to the point where a gap can be seen between the belt and platen while the grinder is running.

Thanks in advance for the help!

do you have a ceramic glass platen?
