Adjustable dust collector head arm

After building a dust collector I wanted to be able to adjust the collector right up to any of the grinder attachments. This would require both depth and vertical adjustments.

Here is what I came up with.

Used some 1" thick aluminum blocks and 1/2" steel rod. Also made up some T-handle bolts for easy adjustment.

The depth rod passes through the workbench so it is out of the way.

These pictures show how the collector can adjust to any of the grinder attachments.

I'll do a little trimming on some of the rods and this will be wrapped up.

Hope this helps some of you folks looking for a similar solution.

Cheers,
Jerid

Very cool. Thanks for sharing this.

What do you run this into? I've been worried about using a dust collector with hot sparks. I don't want to create a fire hazard.

Run it into a metal trash can or drum. Empty it frequently. The more crap in it the more chance it will start smoldering.

Whatever system you use, dump the cans at the end of a day's grinding. It can't catch fire if it is gone. An inch of water in the bottom of the catch can also is a good idea.

yes, putting water in the can is a very good practice. build the can so that the hoses are all in the lid. that way it is easy to dump.

Simple yet Effective very Cool....
