the pdf shows it has 8-10% nickel. What kind of steel is that (all the compositions I've seen show 0.5-0.75 max), & how does it affect the machinability?
 
410 stainless steel - .15 C max, 1.00 Mn max, 1.00 Si max, 11.50-13.50 Cr -- It does NOT contain nickel !!
 
Notice that they have the same analysis for 304, 410, and 416, much like they have the same analysis for A-2 and O-1.

That table has remained uncorrected for years.
 
actually, on the pdf linked to currently, all those steels have different compositions. the 416 & 420 don't show any nickel, but the 303 & 304 do. I guess they're getting better at it.
