Admiral Steel Company

I've never asked for Terry and my orders have always arrived on-time and intact, but sometimes the folks on the other end of the phone are curt. Some other people have mentioned this, apparently Terry is *the* guy to talk to with them. No complaints about quality of steel or even service, just don't like some of the attitude.

Knife steel is a small part of Admiral's business. Terry is the Knife guy, he knows what us knife makers are asking for.

I have been using them for almost 8 years now, and the only time they messed up an order (actually, it was a quote, not an order), they made it right, and then some.
People say to talk only to Terry, but I've never had a problem with anyone.

They may not tell you your steel is backordered when ordering as I found out on my last order. However they sent me and extra 16" at no extra cost so you wont hear me complaining. Good people.

I used them for many years with no problem. I was buying 1095 from them. Before you buy, check prices against ENCO. Enco sells Starrett, which has vanadium in it. Some 01 does not.

I've had Admiral do laser cutting and purchased a bunch of steel from them. As said, talk to Antoine or Terry, they are the steel guys. I only had a problem once in eight years, (It got shipped to the wrong place) and they made it right immediately. Their L-6 is a slightly different alloy than some other suppliers L-6, but it works fine. Their 15N20 makes good damascus mixed with their 1075/1080. (BTW: L-6 is 15n20 with a touch of Cr and Mo.)

This more than answers my question. Thanks for all your replies. Guess I'll give Admiral Steel a try.

I have been dealing with Admiral for almost 15 years now, and the service has always been great. Terry is a great guy, but he does alot of "The heavy looking on" and is not always in his office. Just leave him a message and he will get back to you.
Thanks,
Del

I use Admiral exclusively for the 1070 I buy. Without exception, always speak with Terry Summers. He is your knife steel fellow there.

Readers should note that almost every thread suggests who you should talk to at Admiral. I think we are all trying to keep our response positive. As long as I've been dealing with Linda Doman, I've had

  • friendly service
  • no snarky attitude
  • no shipping cluster *****
  • good communication
  • prompt service
I presume from the above posts that Terry is the same.

'nuff said.

Rob!
