I'm building a Lively-esque forge, except ona larger 50 gallon drum scale. Now I have to apply the adobe to the sides as I've cut the tuyere hole. Problem is a manner in which to apply the adobe. I was thinking of creating a chicken-wire skeleton of which I would fill in with adobe? Or should I try applyingl ayers of adobe as one giant mass would not dry correctly?

I think Mr. Caswell posted awhile back doing one of these if I remember correctly. Look at the posts for user JCASWELL in the search function.

I looked up combos of JCaswell and adobe, clay, apply, and forge, but I couldn't find anything :-\

DReicht, you might get a number of responses and find kindred spirits in the guys in The Outpost subforum at www.knifenetwork.com
I would have given you the direct link but I think you may have to be registered to enter. Not sure. Tai Goo and other NeoTribal guys hang out on that forum.
I'd recommend not mentioning you were making a "Lively-style" forge, though. Never have understood the parting of their ways.

i would say make it a huge potters wheel and put lairs of chicken wire and lairs of adobe. Apply the adobe while its spinning. I hope this is what you mean.

Sorry about that. I may have not have remembered correctly. You could always PM or email JCaswell directly.

I stand corrected I think. Try user Kevin R. Cashen instead of JCaswell. Dang memory...
