Adventures with the BK-10

The 10 looks like an awesome blade! Might have to consider getting one soon.
Love dutch ovens man! I have a pair that I have had for over 10 years. One I use for baking and the other I use for meats and stews and such.
Cant beat seasoned cast iron for outdoor cooking! Come to think of it, I have a third that I have never used that a neighbor have me.
I think your post may have convinced me to get it seasoned this weekend!

Thanks, everyone, for the comments.

3" SP101 in a yaqui slide?
Love my old 4" in .22... made a nice pancake for it.
The 10 looks great. Still want one...

Yep, 3 inch SP101. You are correct. Probably my favorite gun.

Some nice photos SS. Fried potatoes and onions in bacon grease is hard to beat.

Thanks, Dubz.

great thread.Love the user pictures. as for the tree getting a little burnt , I thought fire will help trees grow. I know the old growth forest around here has trees that have burn marks on them.according to the forestry workers the forest fires help the trees grow..

That is likely true for certain trees, especially those native to areas prone to fire. I don't know if locust fits that category. Even so, that was a very hot fire that I kept burning for several hour in an effort to kill the tree.

awesome pics! who needs an axe if you have fire, haha. that's the first time i've seen someone try and take down a tree with fire actually...those are some nasty looking thorns!

Of course, I couldn't have actually taken the tree down, but I think I have succeded in girdling the tree, which will kill it. I probably will now leave it alone for a few years, and take it down when the thorns have decayed enough to be duller and more brittle.

Now where am I going to find bacon and potatoes for lunch? Thanks. :)

Here is a good use for honey locust...

If you can ever get past the thorns, the wood is often very attractive with colors ranging from butter yellow sapwood to peach and rust colored heartwood.

That's a good looking call.

Awesome post. Being stuck behind a desk right now, getting to see the pics from the field was nice.
