Hello all. I am new here to the forums (which is very obvious as I just discovered this is the place I wanted to post my question and not "handmade and custom knives) and new to knife making. I'm looking for any advice that anybody can give me. I just bough my first chunk of steel from Jantz. I ordered 1095 after looking through lots of different forums saying that it is a great beginning steel. After watching a ton of youtube videos I found a design for a filing jig that Gough customs did. I have built the filing jig and am planning on doing my heat treating with a two brick propane forge and a toaster oven. If anybody can can give me any advice on mistakes newbies make or anything else I would greatly appreciate it. I will also upload a few of my favorite designs that I have made for some creative criticism. Thanks for your time and advice!

Andy

Im not sure what happened to the sizes for this one but the blade is 3 inches long and the handle is 3 and 3/4ths long.
