Advice for small camp knife.

I'm trying to come up with a design for a small camp knife . This is 8.5" to the plunge and 14" overall. It seems close but like something is definitely off. Any pointers would be appreciated.
 
Except for something funky going on at the cutting edge by the plunge what's wrong with it? Looks like a fine camp knife. Still not signing your pieces?
 
I agree with Marc. Square off the heel right behind the plunge. Also smooth out the contour on the bottom of the ricasso. It's a nice knife that just needs a little "fine tuning." On a side note, I wouldn't call a 8.5" blade a "small" knife!
 
I agree about that area. I just wasn't liking it and stopped removing metal until I could deside what was up. I think maybe I gave the handle to much drop.

It's kinda small for a camp knife it's .187 80CRV2 that I have had laying around for a while. I have been using a lot of .25" lately so this feels tiny.

i4Marc i4Marc this thing is just a beater test knife.your right though I should find a way to sign these things.
 
The only thing I'd do is straighten the handle out a bit so I could present the full edge of the blade and clear my knuckles. I know that's not where most designs like this go, but it's just a practical point for me.

If you are still tweaking, I might drop the top towards the tip so that that width of the sharpened upper part of the blade vanishes right at the tip.
Maybe even go to a straight clip section rather than rounded drop point...
 
On the few knives that I have done with a choil like that, I did the little half round notch to separate the cutting edge from the choil.

That would perhaps be my one nitpick. My personal preference would be not so much of an angle of the handle to the blade. Straightening that out some might make it feel more “right” as a camp knife. I think it’s a very nice looking piece overall though, and some might actually prefer the current angle.

I added both of the suggestions. I think I'm going to stop there. It might be a perfect gift for my nephew graduating elementary school.
Next time I think the handle will be a bit shorter and way less drop.
 
It's pretty cool how much it improved since the first pic. I thought too many suggestions could ruin it.
 
One of the things that bothers me about knives without a dropped choil, especially some folders is how the edge is dull up near the ricasso. That little notch solved that problem for me as you can see in this little knife which was the first time that I tried it an only like my fourth completed full tang knife. I haven't done very many like this, but it has worked for me. IMG_0348.jpg
 
Looks good. I would concur with one of the other comments on giving more knuckle clearance in the future. I find that 80% of my camping tasks involve chopping food.
 
looks fine to me. for a camp knife i would omit the swedge or sharpened top clip. that tiny bit of weight will help chop deeper, and you may have to hit it to baton/split wood.
