As a soldier and collector, you're brother will certainly appreciate the open season W/ rosewood handles and s30v blade. It really is a big, gorgeous, (American made) knife; deep carry clip and a nice sturdy leather belt sheath.
I know I really like mine.
To stay with the theme of Buck Knives then, without breaking the bank, (<$20/per), take a look at the 2" Buck "scholar", great looking little gentleman's folder; or a "colleague" is a few $ less, same knife without the mirror polish and nicer handle finish.

Made in china with 440a instead of Buck's standard 420hc, but same great Buck, no questions forever warranty, and their china Knives, in my experience, while they keep cost down, have rather decent QC among the other "cheap" china Knives on the market.
Much like a SAK, even most non knife enthusiasts appreciate the name Buck when it comes to Knives. Also, it's a perfect platform to have engraved if that's the route you still wish to go.
