Advice needed bad purchase

Buck would fix it for you if you. If you can push it back together with your hands than it could easily be repaired yourself with some epoxy and a clamp.
Other option is like Steven65 mentioned. Find someone in the UK to fix it. Wouldn't take much.

You had an amicable return arranged with the seller, and you escalated the claim? That's not a very nice thing to have done. Just guessing, but the seller probably figured that since you dropped the hammer on him that he's just wait and see what happened.

Assuming the seller had a good reputation, why would he ship a damaged knife? For that matter, why would you buy a pricey knife without seeing it from all angles?

The seller had nothing to lose, he would just refund the money, return the knife to Buck for repairs at no cost to him, and resell it. It's entirely possible that had you just worked with him in good faith that you'd get your money back and everyone could just start over.

My advice would be to return the knife to Buck for repairs. Be nice to them. I'd bet my left elbow that they'll bend over backward to help you out.

Like Dad used to say" No use beating a dead horse."

I’ve found PayPal and eBay to be fair on a couple of occasions both as buyer and seller, if you’re honest and thorough then you’re essentially irrefutable.

Well... I don’t know how to reply to this as I’m not sure what your point is? I wouldn’t guess what’s happened then write a post. Firstly I messaged the seller amicable to “sort this out” for my protection and his the return went through eBay. This is the Ebay process. As I live in the UK and not the US it’s bit longer of a distance for an item to travel. If I just sent the item on his say so where’s my protection that when he gets it back he pays me?

The one point you are right is make sure all angles are photographed before buying.

The knife has gone back to the US to buck via a forum member who I’m greatly thankful for assisting.

It’s great you were able to get it sorted out and found someone to assist you here to get it back to Buck. Stinks that you’ll have to wait to get your knife though.

For the most part, my eBay transactions have been painless, but there is always a bad transaction that’s going to pop up. You did what you thought best at the time.

I’ve a question as kind of an aside just cause I’m curious. We have heard here in the US about the restrictive knife laws being enacted in Britain and was just wondering how that effects folks ordering in knives, and having these obvious weapons of war (kidding) in their possession. I just read a few days ago that some are calling for the ban of pointy kitchen knives for Pete’s sake.

Not trying to derail your thread into an entirely new discussion, but I thought you might have a quick answer that’d suffice. Thanks!

This thread has more or less run it’s course. I’m glad you figured out a solution.

I’m always surprised that people over seas collect American knives and the hoops they are willing to jump through to get them. We take a lot for granted here in the good old USA.

Hey no issues with jumping on the thread. You are not the first to ask either.
In the UK we can own/buy/sell these knives through sources excluding Ebay. Ebay blocks anything pointy on the .co.uk. There’s no issue importing the knives as they are legal to own.

If I decide to carry the 110 folded I would be questioned as to why and if I didn’t provide valid reason then most likely consequences.
If I walked out of my house with it locked open I’d been thrown in the back of the police car.

Regards

Can Elton John carry a sword? He’s been knighted so that is a valid reason right? Lol!

Ive carried a 110 everyday since I graduated high school. We are lucky here.

Well that sucks...

A valid reason could be it’s a work tool, some trades men use similar knives. However on a Friday night having a few beverages in a shirt and chinos may not class as appropriate....

Yeah that stinks. I carry a knife everyday. If people don't get there head out of the sand here, we will be right there with you before long.

Glad your situation is having a decent outcome.

On the handle
I have had issues with damage from Cold and low pressure in high flying jets
It’s due to different expansion rates and amount of glue ‘ bite’ and stress in the material or old ivory
Even had a handle crack once on its way back from buck
