Sometimes, checking out local yard sales can yield some surprises. My wife's cousin, who lives in Maine, is on a rather tight budget with her fixed income and often goes this route. About 10 or so years ago, she walked into a yard sale and looked around. She found a box labeled "Graham Kerr, the Galloping Gourmet". She opened the box and there was a wood block containing unused, pristine, high-quality kitchen knives with rosewood handles. These knives were likely manufactured in the early to mid 1970s and were literally never used. She paid $50 and walked away with a set of professional grade kitchen knives!
