I am having a bear of a time trying to put an edge on a knife I am finishing up. I am sharpening at 20 deg per side. The blades rc is around 59-60, and I'm using the extra coarse 70 grit lansky stone, which is barely doing anything. I am more familiar with 440C and this is my first bout with 154. Should I have tempered this thing lower like a 56-8? Should I be using diamond stones?

Yes, use diamonds. You can buy diamond hones for your Lansky individually.

I bought some 8 inch DMT Dia-sharp bench stones in 4 grits. Extra Coarse ,Coarse, Fine and Extra Fine. They sharpened the CPM 154 blades that I made at RC60

I actually just bought those grits but in the lasnky kit style. How do you keep your angles correct using bench stones??

figured.

Hey Brian did you know when you google Tolono a picture of big guy squatting a beer keg pops up next to google maps.

Set the edge on the grinder first, then refine it with the DMT Diasharp plates.

I use a little block I put on the ricasso to align the sharpener (dmt diafold) and realign every few moves
I use 20 or 15 degrees
