Hello,

Please be patient with me - I've never posted anything on any forum in my life so I don’t have a clue what I’m doing. This may not even be where I should be posting this. If it’s not, please let me know. I did try and read the rules and did pay for a membership in order to comply.

Just a little background: There is a couple in our church that I’ve had the honor of serving as they’ve gotten older. They don’t have a computer or cell phones. The husband (David) is a Navy Vet that served during Vietnam and then worked on a river boat until he retired, which kind of explains some of his knives. He is now under Hospice care at a nursing home. The wife, ran across a plastic tub full of knives and asked me what she should do with them. I told her that I would try and sell them if she didn’t want to keep them. She would just as soon give them to me if I showed interest but I would really just like to get something for them if they have worth and give her the money.

Since I brought them home, I’ve looked on what some of you call "Evil Bay"- and I’ve researched what some of these have sold for in the past (that’s IF I’m even looking up the correct knives??). It seems like some of them might be valuable to the right person but I really need educated advice. In all my Googling – you guys kept popping up so I figured you might be able to help.

So, my question is, are these worth trying to sell for her? If so, what is a ballpark estimate of what these are worth as a group? (I don’t have time to deal with individual listings).

Please forgive the pics. Most of these don’t look like they were ever carried or used.

I’ve included a list of the knives with my inexperienced guestimates.

Thank you in advance for any help you can offer.IMG_3885.jpegIMG_3886.jpegIMG_3890.jpegIMG_3891.jpegIMG_3893.jpegIMG_3894.jpeg

Sharp & Fiery, you are correct. Just trying to see if these are worth trying to sell and if so are the estimates I have even close? If posting on the Buck forum is advised that’s what I’ll try. Thanks
You can report you first post using the “report” button on the bottom of said post and ask for it to be moved to the Buck Subforum. 👍🏼

You will most likely get better answers there.

The prices don’t look way off just from doing a little searching. Looks like you did your homework. If you decide to sell them I’d be interested in a few as would others here. Good luck!

I’d bump that Case electricians knife up a bit unless it’s more beat up than it looks. Even though it’s a newer(ish) model I see them go for 80+ quite often.

You could sell them all in a lot, but it would be worth more separately and more difficult in managing. Sell them here in the Exchange and you will not pay the exorbitant EBay pricing.

Just based on what I've paid at the local knife shop for similar models:

$110 for the 112 two-dot seems a bit high, but maybe not. Can't hurt to ask that for starters. I think I paid around $65 for a two-dot a few years ago.

$20 for the Old English script 501 (appears to be a 1978-80 model) -- I paid that much for a kind of rough early 501 that had to be sent to Buck for a blade replacement. I paid at least double that (maybe more) for a similar 501 in like-new condition. The early 501s have stainless steel frames, Micarta covers, and 440C blades, which make them popular with some collectors. Also, your 501 has the "humpback" lockbar found on some early models. (And, you don't have a sheath, which is period correct for that knife.)

$20 for the 703 Colt -- 700 series knives seem to be popular with collectors, so I would think it would bring more than that.

Thank you for the info. I would like to sell them in a bundle for her to just be done with it. I’ll check out the Exchange and see what I can do.

Wow! Thank you for all the info. After looking at the pics I posted I can see I’ve done a poor job at giving a good representation of these (especially the first batch of Buck knives). I think I’ll learn to take better pics and sell here rather than EBay. I know there are rules to follow to avoid scamming. Thanks again.

I think selling them in a bundle might be hard. I, for example, would only want the Buck slipjoints and ranger. I wouldn't want to pay for the others unless they are cheap.

I'd probably only value the bantam at $10-$15 or so, because it's made in Taiwan and the current American made bantam brand new sells for under $30.
The 703 I'd probably ask at least $45.
$20 for the $501 in this condition is an easy sell.
That KA-BAR is worth a little more, but that sheath doesn't go with it.
That's a marline spike used for untying knots and whatever knife goes in the sheath would have a sheeps foot blade like the Buck 813 but obviously not the at 813 because it has the built in marline spike.
It looks like a factory made sheath that came with a folding rope knife of some kind, but not one of these.
