Heading home from VA to MA. I-81 to 78 through Allentown\ Hamburg PA area. With the kids and dog I have one chance to stop at that Cabellas in PA or the gander Mt I passed.
Which has the best knife selection since I found nothing else? Even if I just look.
Something higher end. No dicks or wally for me.

Or if you can do me one better. Lmk

Thanks in advance.
Matt

A Gander Mountain opened up in a local Tulsa shopping center - excited, I dropped in.
Crestfallen at the prices and selection, I walked out. They wanted well above MAP on all of their Benchmade knives and they didn't really have much else of decent quality.

I've never been to a Cabella's store, but I really hope they have a better selection than Gander Mtn. You might actually call both of them and ask them for a general overview of the brands they carry, see which ones are worth even stopping at!

Hey thanks for that pal. I might have to call both. I've had horrible luck finding an actual knife store. I certainly don't want to pay above MAP and not really into benchmades anymore besides playing with some new models.
Im almost positive I will end up doing the same as you unless I hear otherwise.

You might like the cabellas in Hamburg, but as others have said I'd check prices online too if something catches your eye.

Agree kane 22. Saved almost $40 on my last purchase online rather than buy from a brick and mortar shop. A least online or BH they have what you want usually as stores have limited supply usually.

Depending on how flexible you are on your route, there is Edgeworks in Frederick, Maryland just a few minutes off of I-70 and depending on how far south in Virginia you are starting, there is New Graham in Bluefield.

Willey Knives. Off Rt 13, through Greenwood Delaware. Not sure how far off the trail that is for you. Relatively small space, not much around for the kiddies (unless they love knives). Great, family owned and operated shop...have tons of the good stuff. From full selection of everything from Opinels, to William Henry, Chris Reeve, Benchmade, Spydercos..worth a stop/detour..

The Hamburg Cabelas is impressive. Museum quality Mounts and (taxidermy) displays..something for the whole family. Not a great knife selection. Full retail. They used to have a restaurant (caff style) on 2nd floor, not sure they still do.

Army/Navy store, On Grape St, off MacArthur Blvd, off Rt 22 Allentown. Great store, small/moderate knive selection. Very cool store, Kimber dealer (nice gun section in back). Huge.. shoe, gear, Carhart, Snowboard/Skater, outdoor and clothing. A lot of retail in the area, Big mall, shopping centers, food. Easy on/off Rt 22.

Hope that helps

I'll second Edgeworks. Very nice shop, great people to deal with. I always try and stop anytime I'm close to Frederick. Worth the drive.

Very nice . 😁. Looks like I need to check out the map in the am. I should have plenty options to research by morning.
Thank you

I dont know where Bluefield Va is but my dealings with New Graham online have been first rate. They seem to have the large selection you d expect from an online retailer and their prices are among the best. I d like to go there some day .

I'm in Amherst. I will need to look into it. All these places sound first rate . I can only head north from here due to time constraint. GPS maps in the am. For now I will sleep on it.
