Hey everyone.

My grandpa passed away about six years ago and was a NKCA member for quite a while and left behind about 45 various club knives that have never been used. My grandma has finally decided to get rid of them and tasked me with the project. I honestly am not quite sure where to start and was hoping that some of you could offer up some advice on where to look for individuals who may be interested. Ideally, I want to make it easy and sell them as a lot, but if that is impractical then I would sell them individually as well. I would appreciate any advice that you can give me.

Thanks!

I would suggest getting a Gold Membership and selling them on the Bladeforums.

I don't think finding a place to sell this is his quandary so much as valuing them. Jumping into the BF classified section with 45 knives and no knowledge about their value sounds like a feeding frenzy.

Which is why I suggested a Gold membership like not2sharp did.

The gold membership is needed to get a value and to sell.

Exactly.

Thanks for the tips. I may upgrade to gold and try my luck then. I know what almost all of the knives retailed at, but was hoping I could just unload the lot at a reduced price to someone with more expertise who could make some money off them in a mutually beneficial arrangement. Is this type of thing ever done, or should I do some research and see what I can do on my own?

Yeah, I understand that, my Gold just ran out. What I'm saying is, just because he has a Gold membership and able to sell in the classifieds doesn't mean he's not going to need some help on valuation. Posting a thread about valuing 45 knives would be like chumming the waters 200 yards off the coast in New Smyrna Beach, FL.

Re-iterating that you want to sell your stuff reads like SPAM. A bunch of people already told you that you can buy a membership to do this.

I know the rules, I just don't feel I need to help enforce them. Pretty sure that's the job of moderators. shrug

Nothing wrong with someone in this community helping out with the daily chores.

Your first post in this thread makes it sound like paying a tiny fee to the venue that one seeks to gain profits from is a bad thing.

Yeah....wouldn't want beginners making money without paying their dues.

Shrug.

We get one thread like this a day.

It's funny how most everyone can read enough to find GND, but not the rules right at the top of the page?

Like it or not, here they are once again:

WHAT IS MY KNIFE / GADGET / SPATULA / TUNING FORK WORTH ?!?!?!?!

In order to curtail potential abuse of membership privileges associated with the forums, questions regarding valuation of knives and collections are limited to those with a membership level which permits selling on this site. Accordingly, registered and basic members may not start or post in threads with such requests whether with the intent to sell or for informational purposes only. This rule applies throughout the site.
