Advice on my 1st Benchmade

I'm in the Valet camp...if you can get a black clip for it. The silver one might be a little "loud" for some offices.

Anyone have any thoughts on a mini loco? I picked one up recently and it seems nice for edc but it’s a lower number first prod (not that that means anything) and I’m a loser so.....

I worked in corporate offices for years. You'll want the knife to be unobtrusive yet capable. So, if I were in the market for a budget office knife, and I wasn't retired, I'd have a Benchmade Bugout for the office. I bought one for my daughter for college because its thin and light. She loves it.

If you wear slacks in the office you'll want thin and light so it doesn't pull your pocket down and won't bulge your slacks. The only thing I would do is sand down the grip stippling a bit so it doesn't ruin your pants as you put it in and take it out of your pocket.

And you can buy aftermarket scales later. The carbon fiber ones ARE VERY NICE.

S30V steel is very capable and will hold an edge when cutting boxes and the like. And the cost is low so you won't hate life if you lose it.

I have two gentlemen's knives that I bought before the Bugout came out. One is the Benchmade Emissary and the other, which I like a lot more, is the
Benchmade 490 Arcane Flipper AXIS-Assist. If your budget allows I suggest the 490. Super light assisted S90V blade.

BTW - I just saw the Foray, it looks great too. The Foray and the Arcane are both wider, heavier, and more expensive than the Bugout.

I have a 940-1,a 943blk and a 535GRY-1

I think the 940-1 or 943 can be better for an office environnements

Especially The 940-1 which can be the best choice if you are looking for something classy

The bugout looks very casual compared to the other but as a general EDC I prefer the bugout over my 94*

Hard to beat the Bugout. Check out the Valet if you want something smaller, 940 if you want something bigger, but I prefer the Bugout with upgraded scales. It's a better slicer as well.

I’m with you on the 3 choices you mentioned. I’d also add the 417 Fact to the list.

The Bug Out sounds like it tics all the boxes. The Bug Out Gray is a great, thin, lightweight knife and it's not too scary to non knife people plus the coated blade takes a beating like a champ. This is mine after a good alcohol rub down and it looked as good as new to my surprise.
