I am going to be Building a hydraulic press in the near future with the help of a hydraulic salesman and I am just wondering what you guys think of this frame. The ram would probably be mounted to the top. The table at the bottom can be moved. Its all made out of 1/2 x 6 c channel. Would this type of frame work for a forging press? Thanks! Sorry for the rough looking picture it was in one of the shops we had burn down.

with the limited information its hard to tell. but one thing i can tell you is that is one creepy ass basement.

I updated the first post its all made out of 1/2 x 6 c channel. the adjustable table is held in place with 1 inch pins

Also its not a basement its a shop that had a fire. The steps go to an old parts room. But its still creepy.

We would need to know how big of a cylinder and what PSI you're going to run, or an estimate of tonnage you want to produce.

That's going to be 18 tons. I think the frame you posted is likely sufficient.

It might work as a starter platform, but there will need to be more parts added. The adjustable table will need to go, for sure.

Just my impression from a photo, but it looks a bit shy of what I would want as far as strength.

Ok that was the part I was most concerned about I was worried the 2 1 inch pins might not hold up under the constant pressure.

I have some more research to do.

Sorry, I assumed you would be just using it as a starting point. Here's what I would do if I wanted to use that frame, roughly speaking.
