Advice on Spyderco Military

I see a lot of great information here. I'd say you've already figured out the knife. (The hardest part.) I own the left handed version! Since you have several options on steel, do some research on the differences between the CMP steel types. (Crucible Industries)

I concur that s30v would be a great first choice. Corrosion won't be a problem and it's easier to bring an edge back than some of the other variations available. Be careful though, you're about to cross the event horizon from which there is no coming back.

Normally I would agree to the suggestion of getting the plain jane s30v millie. But with the $30 discount on the kw cts-204p green g10, OP - you should definitely get it. It is only 15 bucks more.

With all of these super steels out there it can become easy to overlook the simple stuff. I honestly find that S30V holds a great edge and can take a very sharp edge. One question to ask yourself is how confident you feel in your sharpening abilities? The harder that steel gets, the more time and patience it's going to take to get it super sharp again. Most people don't recommend loosing a sharp edge on S110V, but just continue to maintain that edge. If you're looking for a super steel, but you don't want to go S110V, I would think about the Knife Works exclusive Military in 204P. Also, the Knife Works exclusive has the new Military CQI (constant quality improvements), which includes larger size torx head, larger lanyard hole, stepped stop pin (no screw) and torx on both sides of the pivot.

welcome to the forum friend,if i was into the military size knife's i would really think hard about this one!just because of the CTS204P exclusive knifeworks green G10 scales/better torx screws have been added on this model as well,i think there having a sale!its a vary good version of the military with out the plane jane) black scales that are just boring to my eyes!

my plain edge digicam millie isn't getting the love it deserves. it's my main EDC (actually it's always with me while the others get to rotate for the "back-up" knife.) it's been in my bag, and gets taken out for various cutting chores for more than two years until one day i found it was dull as a butter knife. i sharpened it with a two-sided carborundum stone to bring it back to working sharpness. i don't have time to make it into a hair splitter with finer stones so it's back in my bag.

My most recent Millie is a 52100/CF. It was a hard choice between the 204P/Green and the 52100/CF.

You scored one of the newer Military's with the CQI changes, excellent choice!
