Can you make a suggestion please?
What to look for?
What do you think of ti frames?
Digital or auto?

I have a citizen Ti watch that 'retails" for about that much, I really like it alot, I am tough on watches and this is the eco drive, it has not corroded at all, despite being around my work environment, it has not once messed up on time and it keeps time to a few seconds a month

about all i can ask for, i have found another similar but dressier online for about 325.....USD

Like various other items, it depends what's "best" for your purposes.
In this case, there's more than one "best" watch.

Do you want a heavy duty diver/military/pilot watch?
Or, for example, do you want an elegant, featherweight watch
that goes well with a suit and tie?

Quartz, automatic, other system...

If you could be a little more specific, you'll get much more
focused replies and recommendations.

Marathon TSAR military style watch

I was just looking at this one a few days ago. I am tempted to get one. The feature I like about this one is that it has tritium vial markings that really glows bright. Another feature is that it is gov't/military issued is it must be of high quality. They have this one in an automatic style also.

the TSAR is gonna be clunky and heavy... that seems to be the the fashion these days, although i can't understand why. i have a seiko skx007 i don't wear too often specifically cause it's heavy and bulky and kind of hurts my weakling wrists.

but yea, you gotta tell us if you want a diver, a classy watch, a tactical watch, etc etc. specify whether you want solar or quartz or automatic.

titanium is a great material for a watch case/bracelet. well. titanium is a great material for everything.

if you really ask me, i think you should spend 60-80 on a seiko 5 automatic or a casio G-shock for yourself, donate 60-80 to unicef for the holidays, and the rest on a nice dinner for the lady. ;)

Thanks for the reply.

I would like something that would look nice with a suit but tough and good quality.

auto or quartz or solar??? ummm. does not make a big difference. I dont want something with so many fdunctions that i dont use then i haf2 chage the battry every year.

Something that would look cool in the office and in th country.

Thanks guys

I second the suggestion for a Seiko 5. It is automatic and there are tons of variations that would look great with a suit. they can be had for under $100 on ebay.

There are really a lot of fine watches in that range, in the elegant/dressy mode

I suggest you buy something Swiss

Zeno, for one, makes some very nice watches fitting your description

how about a hamilton khaki?

i wear a hamilton khaki-navy, and i likes it very much.

MSRP is 395.00, but you can find them for considerably cheaper on somewhere like ebay.

A Seiko 5 or a Hamilton Khaki would do you very good. Both automatic movements, well under $300.

Well, I just bought a Timex Expedition... on sale for $30. I'd spend the remaining $570 on a Springfield XD-45 tactical bi-tone and buy 3 boxes of Winchester White box ammo and head to the range.

Concord - I like the Bennington series
Ebel has their Classic Sport series
Tag Heuer makes watches in that range...

for about a grand, you can get yourself a real nice
Omega Seamaster,
which goes well with just about any kind of dress

and then - again - right in your range, you can get a Zeno.
I like 'em - don't know exactly why, but watches are such a matter of personal taste.

and now from the cheap side of the street, if you want outstanding accuracy and near bulletproof service go with one of the casio g shock wave ceptor/ solar models. super accurate and pretty darn durable. if you want accuracy it doesn't get much better than this. of course it won't impress anyone but hey you will know what time it is. just my opinion as always your mileage may vary, void where prohibited by law. later, ahgar

Hamilton Khaki Navy. I have one and I wear it for work, camping, and just out an around.

Since I don't really believe in "one fits all" concept, have you considered looking for two watches - one dressy and one tough? The idea of a "tough" watch being dressy just strikes me as unrealistic (unless we have vastly differing opinions of what "dressy" means").

imho a rolex submariner or GMT are both tough and dressy esp in the SS and 18K or 18K versions though the SS does also.

Thanks for the great advice guuys.

I will give it some thought and tell you what I buy. :)

I'd vote for something from Stowa. Made in Germany with Swiss automatic movements.

They have divers, fliegers, dress watches, all beautiful.

Titanium is great, but keep in mind is feels very light almost like plastic (much moreso than a knife with titanium frame) and scratches easier. That said, titanium is my favorite watch material.
