Hi everyone, I'm new to the forums. Im looking for advice on which knife i should go with to start out in the wide world of knives. I will be a first time buyer(of higher quality knives). I've had many knives through out my life but all were very cheap and inexpensive. Deffinetly looking for something that is rugged, very tough, and will last a very long time. Basically a GREAT all around knife for hunting, outdoors and camping/ all around use.

Any advice on any knife out there for under 200$(preferably) that is a great buy for what im looking for would be awsome. Im open to any suggestions even if they aren't the knives listed here.

I am currently looking at the Fallkniven A1, the Scrapyard Scrapper6, and the Ranger RD 6.

thanks!!

Check out Spyderco. The Endura, the Native and Police models are all strong, very well made knives that don't cost an arm and a leg.

For a large camping knife, the scrapper 6 is the toughest out of the bunch, just check out www.knifetests.com, or the Reviews section for noss4.:D

You could also check out the RC-6 by RAT cutlery, its around $150.

Give us some more info on what you will be using the knife for, it will help us help you find the right knife for the job.

the type of knife im looking for will be used for really anything that has to do with camping, hunting, survival, etc. For example the main reason i was looking at the Scrapper6 was because of its durability and its very difficult to break. Im leaning much more towards fixed blades and i also plan on buying a smaller knife to partner with a larger counter-part..... im leaning more towards the Sog Seal Pup in that department.

all in all, like i stated in my first post...something EXTREMELY rugged that will last. I'm not in the position quite yet to purchase several knives atm, so the stronger the knife the better.

hope this helps more...

when i say preferably 200 or under....i am in fact willing to spend more but only if i can ratify the spending of more cash on a much better knife.

Should not be a problem for Annivesary Steel Heart with INFI blade from Busse - big brother of Scrap Yard.

So far INFI is a winner in Noss destruction test and SrapYard is second.

Thanks, Vassili.

The Falkniven, Scrapyard, and Ranger are all good, solid knives to start your collection, but someone should take my temperature if I didn;t recommend Bark River like Knifenut and Tony A. Also, while I don;t own one, you absolutely will not hear an ill-comment about Busse knives.

You're starting a collection that will grow....probably rapidly. Pick one of the ones mentioned and then start looking at the ones you haven't got yet ((( :D ))) I haven't heard a knife mentioned yet that I would disagree with

I would still go with a bravo1 or a RC-3/4, when I am out my rat-3 is my most used knife. A knife designed for your uses will always work better even if its half the size.

awsome.... im very excited to see that i was on the right track, and that everyone is so willing to help with other possible ideas as well. I'm on the Busse site right now.... i geuss they dont offer anything other than the ASH right now? i love the ASH, just trying to keep my options open.

ok so im familiar with all of the finishes and handle materials....but it says "double cut +80". what is double-cut? this is on the busse sight for the ASH btw

Found out what it is....feel like a dummy now lol

Of the fixed blade knives that I own, the two that would make the best dynamic duo so to speak, would be the Fallkniven A1 with 6-1/4" VG-10 stainless steel blade, and the BRKT Fox River with 4" A2 carbon steel blade.
Both excellent and durable knives.

But if you're looking for just 1 good all around knife, I would recommend either the BRKT Bravo 1, or the Fallkniven S1.
