Advice: Small, light, 5th pocket, user blade

Any of these would be a decent choice...

Good luck, OP! :)

Anyone own a Kershaw Chive? I do not own one but have been looking at them for just this type of carry. It is small approx 3" closed.

I have a Chive and it fits but the OD2 is more discrete as anything with a clip bigger than the one on the OD-2 is quite visible and advertises you are carrying.

I have been carrying a CRKT Rave in that pocket, and it is the perfect size. As a bonus, the knife is really cheap.

You guys must have huge fifth pockets. There's no way I could fit a Leek, 707, Mini Grip, e.t.c. in mine.
I'll suggest the Boker Subcom.

You should try Casual Male Big and Tall's Anchor Bay brand jeans. The 5th pocket is--no joke--large enough to hold a J-frame. It would be no stretch at all to fit 4 clipped knives in it side-by-side, with room at the bottom for more. As it is, I put my phone and two small pill cases in it.

For more conventional jeans, a Dragonfly, Subcom, Buck 305 or 310, small Tinker or Classic, Opinel 6 or 7, small to medium Douk-Douk, small Mercator, or any of dozens of other quality knives (CRKT need not apply) would work.

cold steel medium voyager in VG-1. been using one for YEARS and it's never let me down. It resides next to Lion steel's, spyderco's, ZT's, kershaws, benchmades etc but in that size, it hasn't been surpassed. Closest it ever came was a kershaw 1720 jyd

Thanks for all the suggestions, guys. I did some analysis and it came down to the Boker Subcom Dawn 42 and the Spyderco Squeak (I forgot to mention that it needed to be a slip joint as I visit the UK occasionally). I examined both of them at my local shop (BladeHQ). The Boker has a killer price tag but was quite difficult to open with one hand and was a bit heavy for what it is. Nicely built overall though. The Squeak had a slightly firmer lockup (for a slip joint) and felt a bit better in hand. Well built, but pricey for what it is.

Hi, all. I'm looking for a small, light, user blade that will fit nicely in the 5th pocket in jeans (the small pocket in front). Any recommendations?

Its called a Watch Pocket, for back (way back) when men carried a "pocket watch" before wrist watches were popular. The "fob" or attached chain was tied to your belt to prevent loss of your watch.

Maybe it should be called an accessory pocket today since hardly anyone carries a pocket watch anymore.:)

Blessings,

Omar

How much are you willing to spend? The Spyderco Air fits the bill perfectly.

Or go with a traditional design, like the peanut.

I'd get something with a pocket clip. My spyderco kiwi fell out of my fith pocket because it didn't have a clip. Now I carry a ambitious. I think you should get the dragonfly 2. I'm getting one soon

I currently keep a Kershaw Leek in my watch pocket. or '5th pocket" as you describe it to be. But if the fine tip on the Leek isn't suited for what you use your knife for go with a CRKT Skyline. Both these knives are around or under 50$

Spyderco Leaf Storm was specifically designed (by Brian Wilkins) to fit into your jeans' watch pocket.
