I was attempting to sand off the rough G10 under the pocket clip of my Recon 1 and noticed that I needed to remove some screws along the back spine in order to do the job right. Should one degrease these screws and then apply lock tight?
Also it seems like the screws are very delicate and easily stripped. If I did the strip torx indentations will any old torx #6 do or are they found in different lengths?

When I did mine , I just took the clip off and sanded around the screws I didn't want to take the paint off. ( I used 600 grit .) Put your fingernail just over the screw and sand up to it.

I found a light sanding was all I needed. All I wanted to do was take some coarseness off of the G-10 so it wasn't so aggressive.

Take it easy on any knife screws ; they are stripped easily as they are so small.

I've done on it on 6 or 7 recon 1's, without loctite, and just using standard torx sets. Never had a problem. I will say, that I suggest using duct tape to outline the area you want to sand, that way it doesnt ugly the handle up
