I am new to knife collecting and sharpening and currently have the spyderco sharpmaker. I would like to learn how to hand sharpen and reprofile some knives and am looking for what stones you would recommend (size and type). Thanks!

What kind of steel will you be sharpening? Diamond stones will sharpen any type of steel. DMT is a great stone. Size depends on the size of knives your sharpening. I would start with at least a 6" stone, I use a 8" personally. Use the sharpmaker for touch up and get or make a good strop and your set.
