advice wanted

The ulu is actually there because it's a set for my uncle and I know he likes them. I'll play around with the scissor geometry though  thanks. Unfortunately this is what I'm working with:

As you can see I don't have room for any other knives, I would have liked to add a carving knife, a couple steak knives, a utility knife, a boning knife, and a stiffer fillet knife. Eventually I'll probably get another piece and make those but right now I need to start saving up for next semesters classes and books.

Under those parameters, your layout and design is fine. I would shorten the shears, though, and add 1/4" of rocker to the cleaver. Having the sheet laser cut will give you a perfect profiles and make the work easier.

I have one suggestion on the layout (this will be a bit hard, but I'll try to describe it as good as I can).
Shorten the shears by 25%.Flip the lower shear and nestle it above the other. (one going left and one right).Move the warnie down to the bread knife.
Move the ulu to where the tip of the warnie is now.Add a paring knife at the bottom end (where the lower scissors handle is now.

You caught that one Stacy  usually I'm pretty good at condensing parts, don't know how I missed that.

Here's the latest revision, I couldn't do it quite how you said though because the ulu didn't fit underneath the scissors.

Big improvements here................

What about the steel? Are you going with the M4 because you have a big honkin slab of it? It seems like soooooooooooo much time and effort to spend on something that might be a bear to maintain.

OOooooooooooooooooooo ooooooooooo I almost forgot to ask about the serrations on the bread knife. What profile for those? Bigger rather then smaller I hope.

I was going to go with 1/8" serrations for the large bread knife, and 1/16" for the smaller one. For the M4, people have used carbon steel in kitchens for YEARS even though to hear people talk you'd think they'd rust through before they hit the food. I don't mind having to do occasional maintenance with them, and they'll also be hot blued which will help.

Jared, I have seen some nesting software, and your nesting puts them to shame! Nice work. Just need to be aware of the profiling gaps required, and piercing points required if you go with CNC laser/ plasma/ oxy cutting. It varies per process.
