Hello all,

I'm not sure if it's right to post in this sub-forums for such a question. Please let me know if I'm wrong and I'll try to move the thread accordingly.

I'm looking for a particular knife model, which is unfortunately discontinued for a while, so the secondary market is the only option. I've tried many ways to increase my chances of scoring one; including:

- Posting in want-to-buy sub-forum;
- Emailing the maker himself, with his answer being it's going to be low to zero chance for a re-released of the knife;
- Looking around on Arizona Custom Knives website, subscribe to the maker emailing list for notification;
- Looking around on Ebay; and
- Searching aimlessly on Google.

I understand the hunt for an elusive knife is quite rewarding, but it can sometimes be quite frustrating. Anyone have any pointers on where to look for; or what other actions to take in order to increase my chances within the secondary market? The knife I'm looking for is under my signature in case it's not allowed to post directly on the thread.

Thanks all!

No advice on the particular knife, but in general. You seem to be taking the only approach I know of-hitting as many sources as possible. That along with patience will usually prevail, unless it is ultra rare.
Good luck on the search

I guess start by naming what you're looking for.
Well it's under my signature, I'm looking for the Bawidamann Karambit...

I guess I'm a little frustrated, because I've seen the knife for sale on ebay a number of times before; and everytime it's either not the configs I want, or I lose out on the chance to another buyer

Well I guess if you see the one you want at auction that's pretty easy to deal with.

If you see what you want at auction and you're thinking that it's not worth it then you don't really want it.

Looking at you sig below the wall of text I can see that karambit now but nothing about the specific configuration you want. Lots of karmabits out there and I sure don't see anything special from that maker.

Saying you want a grail knife that' discontinued is common but if you're also wanting a deal on the price you should get used to disappointment.

Thanks. Just updated my signature with more details...

There you go. For odd niche stuff the more you put out there the better your chances are. Someone could say they have one they never carry. Lots of people on here so you have to cast the widest of nets.

Thanks man. It's niche stuff for sure.

You might also try setting a Google alert for it. I did that for a Canal Street Cutlery boy’s knife in gold G10 and it worked for me!

Thanks, I'll try and set it up.
I think, like Danke42 said above, it's niche stuff, so the search can be quite difficult... It also doesn't help that the Bawidamann Blades brand is too saturated on the net because of the knockoffs, and pinterest...

There are two on the bay right now. Now, they are not Cerakote'd, but that you can do yourself. Or is it really a price question ?

Price is not a question really, unless it goes more than double haha...then I might just need to gather funds...
Hmm I don't see any new for sale on Ebay since days before...
I see one listed as "Bawidamann Karambit Indonesian..." but that's a knockoff. The other one you mentioned I don't see it...
I've already set my region in the US. Perhaps they are for sale in another country?

Edit1: So I did an advanced search for worldwide results, and there're still no two knives which you said are on the bay... perhaps you can help by provide links if it's not breaking the rules?

Edit2: Link to live auctions on Ebay is not allowed, so I redacted my edit1. Perhaps a guide on how you come accross the two, if they are indeed what I'm looking for?
